Greenwood Lake - New Milford, NJ

Located on the northern border of the state, Greenwood Lake is a pleasant spot to board.

Greenwood Lake is freshwater and open to boating all year around for fishing and watersports. For watersports/wakeboarding your limited though to May - Oct due to water levels and tempretures.

Location:

Located on the states northern border, it literally straddles both NJ and NY state. Greenwood Lake is only accessable via backroads and you will have to climb a few hills.

About the Lake:

Early morning and Late afternoon are the BEST times to board here. During the day you get the wally's with their tubes and water toys. They just chop up the water and make things difficult. Off-season weekends are not bad but summer weekend are horrible. Weekend warriors really chop things up. Weekdays are really the best times to find glass.

Some items to remember...
-give good distance to the waterskiiers. In the southern end of the lake they have a salom course. This section of the lake is also very shallow and touching bottom is not uncommon(sand bottom with the occasional rock or stump).
- give good distance to the islands, they have a rocky bottom here, and you props or worse will pay the price.
- northern end of the lake is deep, in the 40ft+ range, and gets choppy with wind.
